A mini-entry, as I’ve been having difficulty with blog writer today. No huge spat, nothing to break up over; just a bit difference of viewpoint as well as some ill-considered words. I’m sure it will strike over by tomorrow.
No photo today, since I couldn’t discover one, as well as I truly did want one, to show this excellent English idiom I found. To “make cheese” is to “spread skirt as well as petticoat round you on the floor by swirling them before sinking down”. If I were the type of person to speculate without foundation about the origin of idioms (in other words, if I felt competent to folk-etymologize with abandon) I would state that perhaps it comes from the concept that a huge full skirt as well as huge round cheese may have some topological symmetry. Or something.
But I *did* want a photo (preferably of somebody like Doris Day) sitting on the ground with her skirts pleasingly spread out. however my organ of Googling seems to be taking the day off, or is anesthetized, or under the influence of solar flares, or something, so I don’t have one.
